Hello Again! Hope all y'all are well. I'm thrilled to report that my story, "Hooves and the Hovel of Abdel Jameela," which appeared in the awesome anthology Clockwork Phoenix 2, is doing pretty well in the running tally for the Nebula Awards. Well enough that, were the final ballot to be drawn up today, "Hooves" would likely be a finalist. Looking at the list, I'm kind of flabbergasted to be in the company of some of my favorite writers -- people I've been reading for years. But, of course, this flabbergastation has a darker side: I REALLY, REALLY WANT TO MAKE THE BALLOT!! Thus this naked plea "for your consideration." If you are an Active or Associate member of SFWA, you have the power to toss another vote on the pile. A couple more votes would give the story a darn good chance of making it to the final ballot. Even Marvin Gaye, The Prince of Motown (my hometown), is on his knees begging y'all! You can read the story here. And, if you think it be worthy, you can vote here. Thank you. God Bless you. And God bless stories about hermits, monsters, and bizarre surgeries in backwater medieval Islamic villages!
