Various! Sundry!
Howdy, y'all. Lots to report!

For the first time in ages I have committed poem publication!
"The Djinn Prince in America: A Microepic in 9 Tracks" is up at Apex Magazine.

I have also committed pop lit analysis! My article
"The Messengers, Monsters, and Moral Instructors of Islamic Literature" is now live at Fantasy Magazine.

I'm going to my first WorldCon!  My schedule in Reno is as follows:

Fri 12:00 - 12:30, Reading: Saladin Ahmed (Reading), A14 (RSCC)

Fri 16:00 - 17:00, F*** Your Knight and the Horse He Rode in on: Fantasy Series not Based on Medieval European Culture (Panel), A10 (RSCC) An irreverent panel where young writers challenge the predominance of medieval-inspired settings in fantasy.  Christopher Kastensmidt (M),
Saladin Ahmed, Aliette de Bodard, Ken Scholes

Sat 12:00 - 13:00, Meet the Campbell Award Nominees (Panel), A03 (RSCC) All of this year's Campbell Award nominees are at Worldcon.  Here's your chance to see some of the field's best new writers.
Seanan McGuire (M), Saladin Ahmed, Dan Wells, Larry Correia, Lev Grossman, Lauren Beukes

I'll also be at the Hugo/Campbell ceremony, likely brandishing my fake, Oscars-esque "The Other Guy/Gal Won" smile...

The Best of Beneath Ceaseless Skies Online Magazine, Year Two  contains *loads* of good "literary adventure fantasy," including my story "Mister Hadj's Sunset Ride."  It's only $3.99 and it helps keep one of our most interesting and entertaining short fiction venues alive.

I did a fun, brief bit
for Lawrence M. Schoen's Eating Authors series.

Thanks to the wonderfully talented Priscilla Spencer, the Crescent Moon Kingdoms has been mapped!!!:

I actually kind of hope people don't think it's just hating on 'traditional' epic fantasy - which, as a reader, is some of my absolute favorite stuff. But it's going to be fun, regardless...

I think there's a difference between valid criticism of a flawed thing (which is pretty much all things) and just hating. I think most fans will take it in the spirit it's meant. And with that line-up, it can't help but be an awesome panel. =)
